Two of the NFL’s premiere franchises squared off in a rematch of Super Bowls in 2019 and 2024. The Chiefs won both of those Super Bowl matchups, defeating Jimmy Garroppollo first, and then Brock Purdy and Christian McCafferey last year.

The result yesterday was more of the same, with Kansas City cruising to an impressive 28-18 victory over the 49ers, who have been plagues with injuries this season. During the SUper Bowls, Patrick Mahomes continued to be the difference between the Chiefs and San Francisco.

This, however, was not the case yesterday. The Chiefs won in spite of Mahomes, who struggled to move the football throughout the day. The star quarterback had just 16 completions for 154 yards, no touchdowns, and 2 interceptions.

His message after the game was simple, a one letter tweet.

Kareem Hunt led the Chiefs in scoring with 2 rushing touchdowns, but had just 78 yards. Travis Kelce had 4 catches for just 17 yards, averaging 4.25 yards per catch. The Chiefs offense continues to struggle.

The San Francisco offense also found their fair share of trouble on the field this Sunday. Star quarterback Brock Purdy threw for 212 yards, but had three interceptions, hamstringing the San Francisco offense and ultimately costing them the game. Purdy did, however, score two rushing touchdowns.

The 49ers defense showed up, throttling Mahomes and the struggling Chiefs offense. Purdy and the San Francisco offense had to be better than terrible, and they failed.

Jordan Mason led the 49ers with 55 yards rushing on 14 carries. George Kittle had 6 catches for 92 yards. Brandon Aiyuk had just 23 yards on 2 catches.

Kalia Davis and Deommodore Lenoir were the San Francisco defenders that picked off Mahomes, while Purdy was intercepted by Justin Reid, Christian Roland-Wallace, and Jaden Hicks. Fred Warner of the 49ers recorded 6 tackles.

It appears that no matter how they accomplish it, that the Kansas City Chiefs simply can’t stop beating the 49ers, whether it be in the regular season, or the playoffs.
