They traded for Davante Adams, undoubtedly one of the best wide receivers in the National Football League, who also shares a special chemistry with quarterback Aaron Rodgers, but the result appears to be the same.
The New York Jets struggled to score points during their 37-15 defeat at the hands of the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday. The Jets were shut out during the second half of Sunday’s game.
Legendary quarterback Aaron Rodgers struggled tremendously, throwing for just 276 yards and two interceptions. The Jets leading receiver was Bryce Hall, who notched 6 catches for a total of 103 yards. Hall also caught Rodger’s only touchdown on the day.
Star receiver Davante Adams voiced frustration over the team’s struggles after the loss, saying to the press in the locker room, “That’s almost what p***** you off even more, knowing that you’ve got those type of weapons and to come up short…”
The Steelers recaptured their momentum in this game with a dominating performance on both sides of the football.
Pittsburgh rallied on offense behind veteran quarterback Russel Wilson, who appeared to return to legitimate form. Wilson tossed for 264 yards and 2 touchdowns without a turnover. Najee Harris eclipsed 100 yards rushing, and George Pickens notched 111 yards and a touchdown.
Beanie Bishop Jr. recorded both interceptions in the game for Pittsburgh, as the Pittsburgh defense suffocated the Jet’s offense all afternoon. The Jets led at halftime 15-13, but were outscored 24-0 in the second half.
Chris Boswell hit all three field goal attempts during the game, the longest being 46 yards in distance.
With the AFC North still looking wide open, the Steelers, if able to rally behind Wilson, may be able to hold on to their current first place in the division. At 5-2, Pittsburgh has certainly proved that they are a worthy roster.
