Sam Altman, the President of OpenAI, who is amongst the largest public opponents of hardened Trump ally Elon Musk, has announced this morning that he is contributing $1,000,000 to the Inaugural fund of President-elect Donald Trump.

OpenAI has a estimated value of over $157 Billion.

This news comes on the heels of similarly shocking developments in the tech world, as Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos and Meta Founder Mark Zuckerberg have also announced that they will be contributing $1,000,000 each to the inaugural fund of the President-elect.

Tech billionaires, once the most staunch of opposition to the dangers of Trump, now are lining his pockets. We have to ask the important question, why?

What changed?

For one, business insiders tell Vantage News, the renewal of Trump’s corporate tax rate is due in 2025. Trump’s historic tax cuts in 2017, which left the federal government in worse fiscal shape than it ever has been, expire in 2025.

Businesses that once paid 38%, now paying around 21%, are potentially facing paying the old corporate tax rates at nearly double the price. Not only are the wealthy billionaires lobbying for tax reduction, but perhaps exclusive tax reduction that only applies to the largest companies.

Elon Musk Revived His Lawsuit Against Sam Altman And OpenAI In August

It was reported by Reuters in August that billionaire Elon Musk revived his lawsuit against OpenAI and Sam Altman after dropping the suit earlier in the year.

Reuters reported at the time,

Billionaire Elon Musk revived a lawsuit against ChatGPT maker OpenAI and its CEO Sam Altman on Monday, saying that the firm put profits and commercial interests ahead of the public good.

The lawsuit marks Musk’s latest attempt to oppose the startup he co-founded in 2015 and left three years later. Since his exit, OpenAI has gone on to become the face of generative AI, while Musk started another rival startup, xAI, last year that was valued at $24 billion in May.

Vantage News Exclusive Investigation Shows Altman’s Past Political Donations

Federal campaign finance data shows that Altman has donated exclusively to Democrat politicians over the last several years, mostly giving to local and state central committees dedicated to promoting local Democrats.

U.S. Senator Maria Cantwell also received a $3,300 donation from Altman in June of 2024. She is from Washington State. See evidence of Altman’s past donations to Democrat groups and politicians below,

Why did Altman support Democrats until ultimately deciding to contribute to the far-right Presidency of Donald Trump?
